Conceptual Design

strain_gage_cal_systemConceptual design is the very first phase of design, in which drawings or solid models are the dominant tools and products. The conceptual design phase provides a description of the proposed system in terms of a set of integrated ideas and concepts about what it should do, behave, and look like, that will be understandable by the users in the manner intended. ATA’s conceptual design services include industrial design that defines both the aesthetics and functionality of the product, and prototype manufacture.

Industrial Design Services

ATA provides industrial design services for the consumer, commercial, and healthcare industries. Our industrial design services combined with our engineering expertise allow us to generate design solutions that are innovative and have fast turn around development schedules.

Our industrial design experts can assist in all of the following areas:

  1. Ideation
  2. Concept development
  3. Concept refinement
  4. 3D Rendering – SolidWorks, NX
  5. Package design

The industrial design process usually begins with conceptual studies and iteration between ATA and our clients. ATA works closely with the client to ensure that full design intent is captured and engineering considerations are incorporated at this early stage of development. Below is an example conceptual study generated by ATA’s designers:

Solid Modeling and CAD Rendering Services

Visualizing your product is an important aspect in verifying the complete design intent. Our engineers are trained in both SolidWorks and NX and can create both simple and complex, fully rendered 3D models. These models allow customers to provide more pointed feedback at an early stage in the design process and ensure that we deliver an outstanding end product.

Rapid Prototyping Services

Rapid prototyping allows a customer to fabricate a product at a more simplistic level and reduced cost compared to a final production design. Having a tangible product representation helps all groups involved in the design process to communicate ideas more efficiently and effectively. ATA has expertise in the following rapid prototyping methods:

  1. Mockups
  2. Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) models
  3. High density polyurethane (HDP) foam models
  4. Clay models
  5. RTV silicone and urethane molding
  6. 3D printing
  7. SLA/SLS
  8. Laser cutting
